Codes

 

What is a product key?

A product key is a code delivered with the PC software (indicated on the CD cover). It gives access to a certain amount of transmitters. To upgrade e.g. your Piccolo® object protection system you will need more than one product key

What is ID-code?

The ID-code is of 4 digits (text or numerals). It identify which multiGuard® transmit an alarm message. If you set up an ID-code the multiGuard® automatically transmit the ID-code. If no ID-code is defined the multiGuard® will use its password as ID-code.

What is password and PIN code?

Password and PIN code on a SIM card is one and the same thing. If you change the password on your SIM-card you have to simultaneously change the password on the multiGuard® All commands to multiGuard® Light must start with the password (4 numerals).

How do I know my PIN code on the SIM card?

On delivery the PIN code is usually set to 1234 (default for most telephone companies). You can change this PIN code.

How do I change PIN code?

You can change the PIN code in a GSM telephone

How do I know if I use a wrong PIN code?

Check the PIN code in a GSM telephone if connection to the GSM net can be established.

I changed PIN code – why does the multiGuard® not react?

Probably you forgot to change the password for multiGuard® at the same time. Password and PIN code has to be identical in order for the multiGuard® to handle any commands.

Does a GSM modem function with a calling card?

Yes, but we recommend a SIM-card, e.g. one without subscription. Problems with a calling card for GSM phones occur since it usually expires after one year.

Is it possible to connect an extra antenna to the GSM modem?

Yes, besides the GSM build in antenna the GSM modem you can couple an external antenna to the unit to enhance the signal strength.

What cable do I use to connect an external antenna?

Use preferably 2m extension lead to the GSM modem. Be aware that the signal strength decreases by the use of a longer cable.

MultiGuard Basic

 

What is the difference between multiGuard® Light and
a multiGuard® Basic?

multiGuard Basic can function as a wireless system. This means communicate with transmitters. multiGuard® Light is a technical, non-wireless system and therefore unable to communicate with transmitters.

What is the difference between Piccolo® Light and multiGuard®
Basic?

The only difference is that multiGuard® Basic is in a waterproof box, Piccolo® Light is not.

How do I program multiGuard® Basic?

Programming/setup can be performed via a mobile phone or preferably a PC using the multiGuard® Basic software

What is the multiGuard® Basic software?

The multiGuard® Basic software keeps details in data files which enables to see how multiGuard® Basic has been set up previously in case you are going to set up another multiGuard® Basic in exactly the same manner.

Does multiGuard® Basic remember a previous setup?

Yes, by using the multiGuard® Basic software kept details in data files makes it possible to re use the previous setup when setting up a new multiGuard® Basic system.

What cable do I use from the PC to a multiGuard®?

Use a RS 232 cord.

The red lamp on the multiGuard®

If the red lamp is activated it means that the multiGuard® has received your command and is ready to handle it.

Why does the multiGuard® not handle a delivered SMS?

The multiGuard® must be addressed with its password. When you send commands to multiGuard® always remember to begin with the (correct) password (4 digits) followed by one space.

How can I get to see incoming alarms? (multiGuard® Light)

As SMS, analogue calls with DTMF-tones (on GSM phone or stationary phone), analogue calls with voice message (on GSM phone or stationary phone), e-mail.

Can I receive alarm messages as E-mail? (multiGuard®)

Technically, yes. But it depends on which telephone company you use. Ask your telephone company if your SIM card supports this service. Notice the E-mail address can’t exceed more than max 31 characters.

What equipment can be activated with multiGuard®?

 

Sirens, pumps, video, temperature regulation, read energy consumption (water, electricity etc), start/stop irrigation systems (agriculture, greenhouse), functioning check of technical equipment, timetables for streetlights and much more.

Will alarms be transfered in case of power failure?

Yes, Piccolo® Light, multiGuard® Basic and multiGuard® Light are all equipped with a rechargeable battery backup. The battery has a running time of ½ hour and alarms will be sent in case of power failure or sabotage.

How do I program multiGuard® Light?

Programming/set-up of multiGuard® Light can be conducted via the serial COM-port on PC using the Quick-set-up programme, via SMS from a PC or SMS from a mobile phone

What is the Quick-setup programme?

Quick set-up is the software for configuring multiGuard® Light via PC. If you use the multiGuard® Light set-up program then connect the multiGuard® Light COM-port to the 9 pole PC COM-port or a USB to RS232 converter cable.

Can I conduct the setup of multiGuard® Light anywhere from a PC?

Yes, with Quick-setup and a modem you can perform the setup or if necessary make changes to it at any time at any convenient place, e.g. from your PC at home

Can I use a mobile phone to set up multiGuard® Light?

Yes, but it’s easier to set up multiGuard® Light via the PC COM-port since this method doesn’t require knowledge of the many codes you will need to use when performing the setup by means of a mobile phone.

Can more than one multiGuard® Light function together?

Yes. Then the inputs on e.g. multiGuard® no 1 must reflect the outputs on multiGuard no 2.

How can I stop an alarm message from being sent to the next person on the list? (multiGuard® Light)?

If the receiver press “#” after a call, the next receivers on the list will not get the alarm.
